Children of Heroes

"The Heroes" are men and women who have died at the front. This organization provides financial support to the heroes' children. This is a large nationwide organization that last year had a turnover of 11 million dollars. 95% have lost their father in the war. Currently, they support 17,000 children aged from one week to 18 years. The number increases each time we visit them. Most children live with their mother, others with relatives, none in orphanages. https://childrenheroes.org/en/.

Afternoon free. Long-awaited. I personally bought a larger quantity of vodka which I will offer at the Ukrainian Volunteers event on June 5. I also picked up my fantastic tray with a lacquer painting, a copy of Ilya Repin's amazing painting.

Trains running late

At 19:07, the train left from Kyiv to Poland. For some reason, the train was stopped for over an hour somewhere near the border. How and for how long, I do not know, because I slept through both the Ukrainian and Polish passport controls. Wise when you carry too much booze.

The train from Chelm was significantly delayed and we missed the connection in Warsaw. In Warsaw, we said goodbye to the six who were going to Germany, Denmark, the United Kingdom, the USA, and the United Kingdom. It shouldn’t have been a problem since there were three trains we could take and still make it in time for the ferry. But all were fully booked; the first two required seat reservations, so we waited for the third. No seats, but we made it. We had to stand for four hours, but we caught the ferry! And the next day at 12 noon, we could go ashore in Nynäshamn. Always good to be home!

Now Boel and I will do the accounting for the tour, and the results of this will be in the next report. First we calculate the surplus from the tour, add what we participants have spent privately, and then send back money to some of the organizations.
